Blackpool fan dies after pub brawl following Burnley match

English second-tier membership Blackpool stated they have been “deeply shocked” after a supporter died following a brawl in a pub after Saturday’s recreation with Burnley.

The supporter, named as 55-year-old Tony Johnson, was discovered with severe head accidents outdoors a Blackpool seafront bar.

“Blackpool FC is deeply shocked and saddened to be taught of the information that supporter, Tony Johnson, tragically misplaced his life earlier this morning,” a statement read on Monday.

Lancashire police stated a 33-year-old man from Burnley was arrested on the scene on suspicion of wounding and had since been bailed, pending additional enquiries, till June 1.

“Sadly Mr Johnson died in hospital in a single day and his household are, understandably, devastated. We’re supporting them at this tough time and are decided to get them solutions about what occurred,” DCI Tracey McMurdo of Lancashire Police stated.

Following the information, it was introduced that the Blackpool Tower was lit up in reminiscence of Johnson.

“Our ideas are with the household and mates of Tony Johnson, a lifelong Blackpool supporter, who sadly handed away this morning,” Blackpool Council said in a tweet.

“Tonight, The Blackpool Tower will mild up tangerine to indicate our help to the BFC group and everybody affected by the devastating information.”
